who we are
We are architects, planners, designers, moms, friends, and adventurers, who are deeply committed to showing up for our communities and stewarding an environment for future generations.
We design for longevity and harmony with nature. We believe resilient design emerges from close attention to biocultural patterns: the intertwined relationships between ecological processes, cultural practices, and material flows that have sustained communities for generations.
WORK WITH US
We’re growing our network (like the Aspen trees) to help build a world where our children can thrive. Quail Workshop is as interested in the tree on the corner of your property as we are in the future location of the foundation. Close attention to all aspects of the site gathers the relationship of land, climate and hydrology to inform the building design.
We have designed Nature Centers, Schools, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU), Single Family Homes, Multi-Family Homes, Urban Farms, Historic Renovations, Mixed-Use Developments, Master Plans, Offices, and Commercial Spaces, among others. We have experience with Living Building Challenge, LEED, and Net-Zero Carbon & Energy projects.
WHY Quail?
Admirable and fun facts about quails. Quails are:
Experts in shelter, seeking out specific types of cover for thermal protection and predator avoidance.
Community oriented - they thrive on group dynamics, huddling together to keep each other warm, and working together for collective resilience.
Quails have flexible and varied diets adapted to local, available resources including seeds, insects, fruits, and other vegetation.
Water conscious - in arid regions, some quails survive by getting moisture from succulent plants and insects.
We strive to be resourceful like our namesake the quail, a clever, social bird that has figured out how to adapt well to various environments.
